ICT in BDS

Introduction

Leveraging ICT-based technology to enable access of BDS services by smallholder farmers is set as an important theme of the Agri-ProFocus Kenya network. During the Agri-ProFocus Kenya network day in 2010, members have given input for this and a trajectory has been started to develop relevant ICT-based solutions.

2011

• Desk study on available studies regarding BDS providers, their supply and
  needs of farmers,and review opportunities for digitization of specific BDS Services identified
• Joint workshop to validate outcomes and BDS Challenges
• Identifying pilot cases for ICT in BDS

2010

• Brokering between Agri-ProFocus members on ICT (see Agri-ProFocus-network day report dating results)
• Development of reference group and joint action agenda
• Exchange between Agriterra and Solidaridad on ICT for coffee Sysco-op and Coopworks)
